The Council for the Homeless operates the Housing Solutions Center, our community’s one-stop access point for over 40 housing assistance programs including: emergency shelter, homelessness prevention, and programs designed for specific populations such as families or unaccompanied youth. Staff and volunteers at the Housing Solutions Center work with clients to assess their housing needs and connect them to their best-fit housing solution, as well as, connect them to services in the community that will help them on their journey toward safe and stable housing.
POSITION SUMMARY
The position is responsible for working to prevent and end homelessness in Clark County by creating and increasing partnership initiatives that benefit the homeless crisis response system. This position will also support the local Continuum of Care, increase the community’s knowledge regarding homelessness and advance various planning efforts.
Some of the functions of the position include: Increase the community’s knowledge and engagement around homelessness and the Council. Pursue integrated solutions to address needs within the homeless crisis response system. Provide frequent presentations regarding the local homeless crisis response system and serve as a subject informant, as needed. Work with development staff to progress communications plan, utilizing social media and other communication modes. Work closely with the Housing Solutions Center to inform the community of their work, create partnerships and funding opportunities to expand capacity and progress trauma informed efforts. Utilize a trauma-informed, strengths-based, client-centered, equity lens in all work conducted.
