When you think of journaling, you’ve probably get haunting flashbacks of grade school, with arbitrary writing prompts and hand cramps. On the other hand, it may bring you beautiful memories of shows like Doug and Moesha (Aging myself), where they narrated their life experiencing through journaling. Either way, you might have a love-hate relationship with keeping a journal.
As a MSW student, Intern, full-time employee, and raising family, I felt stress and anxiety overwhelmingly consume me. After disclosing such feelings to my support team (life partner, therapist, supervisor, classmates, and colleagues), I found it imperative to get organized and address them head on.
I took up journaling to counter the feelings of stress and anxiety. I have used it for writing my feelings/gratitude, drawing, jotting to-do list, writing noteworthy quotes, and reviving my un-successful rap career. Journaling does more than just help you record memories or self-expression myself. It can do wonders for your health.
